Description
A crispy, melty grilled cheese sandwich with tangy dill pickles, ready in just 15 minutes. Perfect for a quick, comforting lunch with a flavorful twist.
Ingredients
- 4 slices sturdy white sandwich bread or sourdough
- 3 tablespoons (45 ml) real butter, salted
- 4 ounces (115 g) sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 6–8 slices crunchy dill pickles, thinly sliced
- Optional: 1 teaspoon mustard or mayo (spicy brown mustard recommended)
Instructions
- Grate the cheese if using a block and slice the pickles thinly.
- Butter one side of each bread slice evenly.
- If using mustard or mayo, spread a thin layer on the unbuttered side of the bread.
- Place two slices of bread butter-side down on a plate.
- Sprinkle a good layer of cheese on each slice, then arrange pickle slices evenly on top.
- Add more cheese over the pickles to help everything stick.
- Top with the remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or cast iron pan over medium heat.
- Place one sandwich in the pan and cook for about 3 minutes, pressing gently with a spatula.
- Flip carefully and cook the other side until golden brown and cheese is melted, about 3 more minutes.
- Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately while hot and melty.
Notes
