Juicy Steakhouse Sloppy Joe Burgers

  • Author: Nora Winslow
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Tender ground beef cooked in a rich, smoky sauce, piled high on a soft, buttery bun for the ultimate comfort food.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (85% lean)
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Dash of hot sauce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns (preferably brioche)
  • 2 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)
  • Cheese slices (optional, sharp cheddar, American, or Swiss)
  • Optional toppings: sliced pickles, diced onions, shredded lettuce, tomato slices

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking it up with a spatula as it browns. Season with salt and pepper. Drain excess grease.
  2. Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  3. Lower the heat to medium and stir in ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and hot sauce (if using). Let it simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.
  4. Melt butter in a separate skillet or griddle over medium heat. Toast the buns until golden brown.
  5. Spoon the sloppy joe filling onto the bottom bun, top with cheese (if using), and add your favorite toppings. Place the top bun and serve immediately.

Notes

[‘Don’t skip the Worcestershire sauce for steakhouse flavor.’, ‘Toast your buns with butter for added flavor.’, ‘Use fresh garlic for a stronger aroma.’, ‘Let the sauce thicken for a rich, sticky texture.’, ‘Customize the spice level by adjusting the hot sauce.’]
