Description
Warm, gooey cinnamon rolls meet the golden, crispy edges of French toast in these bite-sized treats, perfect for brunch or a lazy Sunday morning.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6–8 slices day-old bread (brioche or challah preferred)
- 3 large eggs
- ¾ cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- Butter (for cooking)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
- Cream cheese frosting (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Cut the bread slices into bite-sized cubes, about 1-inch pieces.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sugar until smooth.
- Toss the bread cubes in the batter, ensuring they are fully coated. Let them soak for 1-2 minutes.
- Melt 1-2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the soaked bread cubes to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and slightly crispy.
- Transfer the cooked bites to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess butter.
- Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle cream cheese frosting on top. Serve immediately.
Notes
[‘Use soft, slightly stale bread like brioche or challah for the best texture.’, ‘Avoid over-soaking the bread to prevent it from becoming mushy.’, ‘You can cut and soak the bread cubes the night before and store them in the fridge.’, ‘Keep cooked bites warm in a 200°F (95°C) oven if cooking in batches.’]
