A quick and flavorful grilled salmon recipe with a tangy Dijon mustard sauce, ready in 25 minutes. Perfect for a healthy weeknight dinner with simple pantry ingredients.
Ingredients
- 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each / 170g each), skin-on
- 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (about 2 teaspoons)
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse salmon fillets and pat dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk together Dijon mustard, honey, olive oil, fresh lemon juice, and minced garlic until smooth and glossy. Adjust honey to taste if desired.
- Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat (about 400°F / 200°C). Lightly oil the grates with a paper towel dipped in oil to prevent sticking.
- Place salmon fillets skin-side down on the grill. Brush half the Dijon mustard sauce generously over the top of each fillet. Grill for 4-5 minutes without moving.
- Carefully flip the fillets and brush the remaining sauce on the exposed side. Grill for another 4-5 minutes, or until salmon flakes easily with a fork and is opaque throughout.
- Remove salmon from grill and let rest for 2 minutes to redistribute juices. Sprinkle fresh parsley on top before serving.
Notes
If you don’t have a grill, bake salmon at 400°F (205°C) for 12-15 minutes, then broil for 2-3 minutes, brushing sauce before baking and after broiling. Avoid flipping salmon multiple times to prevent breaking. Use fresh lemon juice for best flavor. Sauce can be mixed a few hours ahead but add lemon juice and garlic just before grilling. For extra zing, add whole grain mustard or smoked paprika.
