Ingredients

Scale

For the Garlic Bread Base:

  • 1 loaf Italian or French bread (or 8 slices Texas toast)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp salt

For the Pizza Toppings:

  • ½ cup pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Toppings of choice (pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, etc.)

Instructions

 Prepare the Garlic Bread Base:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the Italian or French bread in half lengthwise or use individual slices of Texas toast.
  3. In a bowl, mix butter, minced garlic, parsley, garlic powder, and salt until well combined.
  4. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the bread.

2. Pre-Bake the Garlic Bread:

  1. Place the buttered bread on a baking sheet, cut side up.
  2. Bake for 5-7 minutes until lightly toasted.

3. Add the Pizza Toppings:

  1. Remove the bread from the oven and spread pizza sauce over each slice.
  2. Sprinkle with mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
  3. Add your favorite toppings and a pinch of dried oregano.

4. Bake Until Crispy & Golden:

  1. Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  2. For an extra crispy top, broil for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

5. Serve & Enjoy!

  1. Let the garlic bread pizza cool slightly before slicing.
  2. Garnish with red pepper flakes and extra parmesan, if desired.
  3. Serve with Caesar salad, tomato soup, or a side of marinara sauce for dipping!

Notes

  • For a crispier base, bake the garlic bread for an extra 2-3 minutes before adding toppings.
  • Texas Toast Pizza Variation: Use frozen Texas toast for an easy shortcut! Follow package instructions to toast, then proceed with toppings and baking.
  • Creative Topping Ideas: Try BBQ chicken, pesto & sun-dried tomatoes, or caramelized onions & goat cheese for a gourmet twist.
