Ingredients

Scale

For the Tacos:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 8 large flour tortillas
  • 4 tostada shells
  • 1 cup nacho cheese sauce
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Optional Toppings:

  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup guacamole
  • ¼ cup diced onions
  • ½ cup salsa

Instructions

  • Prepare the Ground Beef:

    • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into small crumbles.
    • Drain excess grease and stir in taco seasoning according to package instructions. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Warm the Tortillas:

    • Wrap flour tortillas in a damp paper towel and microwave for 20-30 seconds to make them pliable.
  • Assemble the Double Stacked Taco:

    • Spread a layer of warm nacho cheese sauce on each flour tortilla.
    • Place a crispy tostada shell in the center of each tortilla, pressing gently to adhere.
  • Add the Filling:

    • Spoon seasoned ground beef onto the tostada shell.
    • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the beef.
  • Top with Fresh Ingredients:

    • Add shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and any additional toppings of your choice.
  • Fold and Serve:

    • Carefully fold the soft tortilla around the tostada shell, pressing slightly to hold its shape.
    • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Substitute ground beef with shredded chicken, pork, or a vegetarian option like refried beans.
  • Add hot sauce or jalapeños for extra heat.
  • To make a cheesy gordita crunch version, swap the flour tortilla for a warm, cheesy flatbread.
