  • Author: Nora Winslow
  • Total Time: About 4 hours
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

Tender, juicy pieces of steak cooked low and slow in a crockpot with a simple marinade, perfect for busy weeknights. This hands-off recipe delivers melt-in-your-mouth steak bites with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds beef sirloin or chuck steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cloves minced garlic (about 1 tablespoon)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Optional add-ins: 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • Optional add-ins: 1 cup sliced bell peppers

Instructions

  1. Trim any excess fat from the steak and cut into roughly 1-inch cubes. Place steak cubes in a large mixing bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together olive oil, beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, brown sugar, onion powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
  3. Pour the marinade over the steak bites and toss until well coated. Add mushrooms or bell peppers if desired and mix gently.
  4. Transfer the mixture to the crockpot, spreading it out evenly.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours until steak is tender. Avoid opening the lid frequently.
  6. Optional: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the cooked steak bites for 1-2 minutes per side for added texture.
  7. Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the steak bites and serve immediately.

Notes

[‘Use low-sodium beef broth and soy sauce to control saltiness.’, ‘Check for doneness around 3 hours to avoid overcooking.’, ‘Searing after slow cooking adds a nice crust but is optional.’, ‘Save and drizzle the flavorful juices over steak or mashed potatoes.’, ‘Leftovers reheat well with added broth to maintain juiciness.’, ‘Frozen steak bites are not recommended for crockpot cooking; thaw overnight instead.’, ‘For gluten-free, substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos.’]
