Description
Comforting, rich, and packed with flavor, these creamy garlic sauce potatoes are the ultimate holiday side dish that pairs beautifully with any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes (~1 kg)
- 6–8 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream (240 ml)
- 1/4 cup butter (60 g)
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (optional, 50 g)
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt & Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Peel and chop potatoes into even chunks. Place them in a large pot, cover with cold water, and add a generous pinch of salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook until fork-tender (about 20 minutes). Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until fragrant and golden (not brown).
- Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir occasionally and let it thicken slightly for about 2-3 minutes. If using Parmesan cheese, stir it in until melted.
- Mash the drained potatoes in a large bowl using a masher or ricer. Slowly pour the garlic cream sauce over the potatoes, stirring until fully combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer the potatoes to a serving dish, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and serve warm.
Notes
For a smoother texture, use a potato ricer instead of a masher. Adjust the garlic, salt, and cream levels to your taste. If the potatoes are too thick, add a splash of warm milk or extra cream to thin them out.
